Dear Parents/Guardians We are happy to share two recent episodes of the HSE Talking Health and Wellbeing Podcast that focus on supporting young people’s mental health and wellbeing.
In one episode, the podcast explores digital mental health supports for young people, featuring Joseph Morning, Head of Learning and Curriculum at spunout. The discussion highlights Navigator — a free, anonymous online tool that helps 16–25‑year‑olds find mental health supports tailored to their needs in Ireland. It also discusses spunout’s Safer Conversations Online course, which promotes responsible and supportive discussion of sensitive topics such as suicide, self‑harm and eating disorders on social media.
HSE Talking Health and Wellbeing Podcast,
Another episode focuses on supporting young people during exam season, with host Noreen Turley joined by Dr Jean Sorohan, Senior Clinical Psychologist. This episode offers practical advice for parents and carers on staying calm, easing pressure, building healthy routines and encouraging positive coping strategies. It also reminds listeners that exams are only one part of a young person’s overall journey and highlights the importance of recognising individual needs, including neurodivergent experiences.
HSE Talking Health and Wellbeing Podcast,
We hope these resources will be helpful for families as they support young people’s wellbeing, confidence and resilience.
Have a lovely weekend 😊
